Erin uses her technical background to translate complex science and engineering stories for the public. She has more than 10 years experience as a professional science communicator, working everywhere from NASA to MIT. Erin has run science communication company STEAM Power Media since 2023, creating engaging STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) content, speaking around the world, and helping her clients better share their science and engineering creations with the public. She specializes in science storytelling through writing, video, and social media, and is skilled at helping researchers showcase their passion on camera. She also creates social media content about space, engineering, making, and pinball for her combined social media following of nearly 150K.She previously worked at NASA's Johnson Space Center as a science communication specialist for the International Space Station. Erin led a two-year initiative to revamp the ISS Benefits for Humanity publication which was used around the world to support the extension of the space station to 2030. She spearheaded strategies for sharing station science on Twitter and Instagram, including the creation of some the agency's first (and most successful) Instagram Reels and growing the @ISS_Research Twitter audience by more than 250K, to over 1 million. Erin served as managing editor for all station science feature stories, as well as a series producer for digital series, NASA Explorers: Microgravity (more than 11 million views).Before NASA she worked as the space reporter for the MIT Technology Review where she launched and managed its space newsletter, The Airlock. She also covered automation as the Associate Editor of the Future of Work for the publication and helmed the its largest daily tech newsletter, The Download and Instagram strategy.Erin previously founded and served as CEO of Sci Chic, a company that designed and produced 3D printed jewelry inspired by science and engineering.She has written for an array of publications such as Make Magazine, Sci Show, The Economist, Engineering.com, Lateral Magazine, Beanz, IEEE Potentials, and The New York Times, and is a course author for LinkedIn Learning.
