Joined the success of introducing the Specsavers brand into the Norwegian market two years after the first store was opened. The number of stores have doubled since, and Specsavers now have more than 70 franchise stores. I was managing the head office Finance function, and was part of the management team and country operational board. Whilst the number of stores grew, I worked closely with the Country Manager on strengthening and building the organisational setup in the head office, and did for a couple of years take responsibility for the Administration and IT functions. In addition to establishing and making the current Finance function an value adding and well function part of the head office environment, I have had responsibility for running some Nordic projects such as building report structures and architecture.

Responsible for maintaining and further developing the Norwegian Management Reporting System. One of my main efforts was to enhance the time spend on producing and updating reports, as well as revitalising the range of reports and their content to provide more value for the function managers and country board of directors. I consolidated and reported actuals, budgets and bi-monthly figures for the Norwegian business, and did during my time significantly improve the process of consolidating the budget and forecast inputs from the 5 stores, the Customer Service Centre and the Head office by utilizing an existing database tool together with Excel.I worked close with the store business controllers, operation managers and head office function managers, providing analysis and reports. The experience from these relationships further enhanced my retail experience and knowledge.

As the first Stock Controller in the warehouse, I was responsible for implementing the new role and integrate the change from a once a year stock count to a rolling every day counting of the warehouse stock. I also developed new Excel based tools to improve the efficiency of the new counting routine and deviation analysis. I worked closely with the Logistics, Sales and Financial managers in the store and gained much experience of working cross-functional, in at that time one of Norway’s largest retail warehouses.
