My childhood dream job was to become a surgeon and help people feel better. This desired dream job resurfaced in the middle of my high school career. I took a CNA course through DMACC (a local community college) where I completed Basic and Advanced CNA. Shortly after I decided to obtain a job working at Methodist West on the Orthopedics floor as a Patient Care Technician. I absolutely enjoyed this position and was very satisfied with myself in the ability to have such an impact on patients visits and recovery. I learned many skills while in this position, significantly boosting my communication and people skills. I was able to help patients post-op, as well as help my community during the overwhelming Covid-19 outbreak. I ultimately put a pause in this career path because of uncertainty. However, I strongly value the skills I learned, the help I was able to give, and the memories I made.
