Promotes each student’s learning experience by creating safe, supportive learning environments for academic and personal success. The Residence Director (RD) is a full-time professional employee who is employed by Student Housing to serve as a live-in member of the Residence Life Staff. The RD works with the Residence Life Professional Staff in establishing a positive living and learning environment for the students of Hinds Community College in their area of responsibility.The RD's primarily involved in creating a community environment that is focused on studentlearning and student success. In order to accomplish this, the RD is expected to play a variety of roles. The RD must be flexible and creative in their role as an educator, counselor, advisor, mentor, and educational programmer to meet the needs of their residents. This position requires a substantial time commitment and the ability to be available and accessible to the members of their community.An Advisor adds to the continuity of SGA organizations by making sure that successive officers of the organization understand the responsibility they share as leaders, as well as explaining to the officers the rules and policies established for student organizations.
