I am currently Vice President of Loss Control Engineering (LCE) responsible for management of staff and programs for Treaty Engineering, Custom Account Engineering, HSB Thermography Services and TOGA® Fluid Analysis Program within the HSB Loss Control Engineering department. I joined HSB as a Field Inspector in 1987. Prior to joining HSB I was an engineer in the U.S Navy for nine years where I was responsible for maintaining and operating mechanical electrical equipment. I was an Instructor at the Navy Engineering School at Great Lakes, IL for three years, where I taught propulsion engineering, thermal dynamics, pneumatic-hydraulic controls and boiler operation and maintenance. I have 40 years experience maintaining, operating and inspecting electrical and mechanical equipment. I have a strong background and knowledge in loss prevention, project management, equipment breakdown reinsurance, client management as well as specialty expertise and practical experience in, equipment breakdown risk assessment, severity and frequency analysis and electrical loss prevention and infrared thermography.I graduated from the Navy Propulsion School of Engineering in 1979 and I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Kennedy-Western University. I am a member of The Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) and I am a Certified Energy Auditor (CEA); Certified School Risk Manager (CSRM) and a Certified Level I Thermographer.
Assistant Vice President Risk Management Services And Client Company Manager
Responsible for managing the profitability as the assigned risk manager for client companies. Responsible for assuring a minimum profit margin for each client. Develops monthly, quarterly and yearly reports outlining profitability and analysis of claims. Develops and implements risk management strategies to reduce exposure, create value and improve overall profitability. Develops opportunities to meet client needs by integrating additional strategic products into the clients markets. Provides consultative risk management services to clients in support of their business objectives. Responsible for directing approximately eight Boiler Machinery Inspectors with direct involvement in significant risk evaluations and accident investigations. Instructs, trains and guides assigned Inspectors as required. Establishes and follows personnel development plans.
Boiler Machinery Inspector
Perform inspections on medium to high hazard exposures including, but not limited to, light and heavy manufacturing locations. Responsible for handling jurisdictional certification, claim investigations, risk evaluations, and shop inspections.
