Shipbuilding Specialist (Planner)
Current● Inspect and recommend repairs to shipboard propulsion engineering systems (e.g., generators, reduction gears, and auxiliaries) for Naval vessels undergoing upgrades, repairs, and modernization. ● Prepare work spec/bid packages and review mechanical/electrical contractor proposals with estimates for repair recommendations that include labor and material (L&M) and contractor scope of work. ● Oversee ship project schedules, processes, and progress, ensuring shipboard personnel follow on-site safety policies/procedures and receive training on maintenance and upgrades to support ship readiness. ● Monitor ongoing equipment failures, ship repair actions, part requisitions, and maintenance costs against previous logs. Updated non-conformance and degrading casualty reports (CASREPs) accordingly. ● Review and approve on-site procedures and requirements against contract specifications, applying extensive knowledge of the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM) and the Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV).
