As an intern at Songhai, I did research on the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Sub-Saharan Africa, focusing on key developments and issues around tech startups and Small and Medium Enterprises in Sub-African markets (Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, and Ghana), and provided managing partners with insights for consulting projects. I also contributed to the firm’s content marketing strategy by drafting blog posts and tweets, highlighting market insights for clients and other stakeholders.

Rice 360° Institute for Global Health Technologies (https://www.rice360.rice.edu) offers innovative undergraduate programs that engage students to design and implement new technologies to solve real global health challenges.As a business intern at Rice 360 Institute for Global Health, I conducted extensive market research and used the Business Model Canvas to design a business model for the design studio. I also developed product pricing and marketing strategies as Rice 360 sought to identify a product-market fit for new health innovations designed to reduce the spread of COVID-19. I also collaborated with other interns in evaluating the design of a physical prototype for a portable sterilization chamber that uses ultraviolet-C (UVC) light.

Work-Study Intern at the Todd and Ruth Warren Library. I assisted students with accessing library services and oversaw the usage of library resources after staff working hours for 8 hours every week.

Community Engagement Coordinator in the student government. Organized fundraisers and campus-wide outreach events for students. Raised $340 to buy stationery items for 5 high school students during the fall semester of the 2018/2019 academic year.

Lilongwe, Malawi

ACADES (https://acadesmw.com) is a non-profit organization that supports young smallholder farmers in Malawi. The organization empowers young farmers by providing them with resources and mentorship to become economically independent by pursuing opportunities in agribusiness. At ACADES, I worked with the marketing team to develop a marketing plan with robust digital marketing strategies aimed at increasing social media engagement and highlighting the impact of the work ACADES does in Malawi. I also supported organizing two entrepreneurship training events (business planning) patronized by 30+ budding entrepreneurs.
