About Ernest Van Dyk

Ernest van Dyk is a Professor and Consultant with 20 years of experience in the South African energy sector. He is a Professor of Physics at the Nelson Mandela University and leader of the Photovoltaics Research Group. He is also the CEO of the university spin-off company PVInsight (PVi), a photovoltaic (PV) module testing and consultation company. The PVi has an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory to conduct PV module testing. In addition to being a Physics lecturer Ernest is also an active PV researcher and consultant, specialising in PV module characterisation, assessment for verification of specification, PV system specification and specification verification, solar resource measurement and assessment and general renewable energy consultation. He is also registered with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (Pr.Nat.Sci.) and a Certified Physicist (CPhys) registered with the South African Institute of Physics.
