Financial Trainee
Back in Polytechnic, Gerontological Management Studies (Diploma) gave me opportunities to interact with many elders in Singapore, from all walks of life. My personal experience with them allowed me to grow and be more empathetic towards anyone. I've met elders (past 65 years old) who lives alone, some who are still working in minimal-wage job to keep up with living standards and others who were left abandoned. After graduating, during the career break in 2021 to 2022, I worked with numerous Financial Advisors on leads generation and marketing. Working closely with these professionals provided me with insights to this industry, and the type of services delivered. This got me thinking...why have I not considered this industry at all?I made it a mission for myself to educate and raise awareness on financial security through my service. I definitely do not want my parents to suffer after retirement. Either suffering physically through enduring a physically demanding job at an old age, or suffering financially due to gaps in their financial and insurance portfolio. These 7 months grind was no joke. I was mentored and drilled to be knowledgeable in my field before contracting as a Financial Consultant. I learned the importance of Wealth Protection, Wealth Accumulation and lastly, Retirement Planning. Then, I uncovered that it was most likely due to the high percentages of elders being financial-illiterate during their working days, resulting in a non fruitful and meaningful retirement.
