I worked as a supervisor at the Social Security Office in West Chester for many years. I retired in January 2008. In May 2010 the Social Security Administration hired me back to work as a temporary employee in the Reading District Office.

I supervised a group of employees who authorized the payment of benefits to seniors and disabled individuals. At the same time I supervised another group who provided phone and in-office services to people who were entitled to benefits. Over the years, I interviewed thousands of people who were applying for monthly benefits, Social Security Cards, or some other service provided by the Social Security Administration.Other interesting duties: 1) talking to people who were dissatisfied with the service or benefits they were received, 2) giving speeches to various groups about Social Security and Medicare benefits, and 3) writing instructions for a new employee appraisal system.
