The Office for Māori Crown Relations - Te Arawhiti (the former Office of Treaty Settlements) is a new Crown agency dedicated to fostering strong, ongoing and effective relationships with Māori across Government. The Office will continue the existing work of Te Kāhui Whakatau (Treaty Settlements), Te Kāhui Whakamana (Settlement Commitments), and Te Kāhui Takutai Moana (Marine and Coastal Area), to complete historical Treaty settlements and ensure the commitments made in Treaty settlements.https://www.tearawhiti.govt.nzTe Kāhui Whakatau (Treaty Settlements), advise on policy, negotiation processes, and implementation steps related to historical Treaty of Waitangi claims. Negotiation teams assist claimant groups to enter into negotiations with the Crown, develop policy advice, negotiate with claimant groups, implement Deeds of Settlement, provide briefing and related services to relevant Ministers, Cabinet and Parliamentary Select Committees, represent Te Arawhiti in external meetings, and participate in corporate initiatives.
