Journalist, Producer
Helsinki, Finland
I spent some 10 years at Helsingin Sanomat. Here's detailed description of my job titles and responsibilities there.2005-2006: Worked as online editor in news desk. Also had some responsibilities with developing site http://www.hs.fi/2007-2010: Worked as sports editor. In January 2007 Helsingin Sanomat decided to start publishing online sports news straight from the sport departments own news desk. I was part of that since day 1, first planning the site (HS.fi/urheilu) and then creating content to it. I also wrote occasionally articles to printed paper.2010-2015: Worked as producer in Helsingin Sanomat digital development team. I had many responsibilities there. Here some of them:* Planning and creating content for the site mm2010.fi which was cooperation between Helsingin Sanomat and Ilta-Sanomat. Site covered all the news and statistics of the FIFA World Cup 2010.* Was producer in many "Vaalikone" projects. Vaalikone is the site (vaalikone.fi) that brings voters and canditates together under national elections. This is done by asking same questions about political issues, ethics, values and so on. "The election machine" then uses algorithm to find out which candidates are best match to given user and suggests them as a result. There is also lots of info about candidates and election included. (I was essential part of creating vaalikone for these Finnish national elections: Parliament 2011, President 2012, Municipal 2012, Euro Parliament 2014, Parliament 2015.)* My main role as producer was to be "middle man" between editorial, commercial and tech staff of Helsingin Sanomat and also to be in contact with business partners and other stakeholders. While my strength and background is in content creation, I have a good understanding of commercial and technological possibilities and issues.2015: Worked some time as News Planner. My job was to make sure that known news events (scheduled meetings, press infos, trials and so on) are planned beforehand.
