The first line group (Supervision) was responsible for the monitoring of the network (24 hour per day 7 days a week). Further responsibility includes solving customer complaints and informing Customer Services and management about network-problems. The second line groups support the first line group. The second line groups were also responsible for the day to day management of the different systems as well for implementing new equipment or new services. There were second line groups for NSS (including STP’s and number-portability), IN/VAS (prepaid, voicemail, SMS, VPN, indirect access), BSS + MW (Nortel en Alcatel) and System Support (responsible for the systems needed to monitor the network remotely like OMC-S, OMC-R, OMC-MW, DPN, TT system etc.).
