Emily holds a degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Curtin University and currently works as a Strategic Planning Officer in local government. Her professional journey began in private consultancy, where she contributed to social impact planning for significant projects in renewable energy, transport, mining, and industrial development. In the public sector, Emily focuses on planning processes and policy development to enhance local communities. Emily is actively engaged with the Planning Institute of Australia's Young Planners Committee, serving as the convenor. In this role, she leads a committee of 12 people, chairs monthly meetings, and organises conferences, networking events, and mentoring programs. Emily has hosted major events like the 2024 Young Planners Summit and presented at the 2023 and 2024 PIA State Conference. Additionally, she represents Young Planners on various PIA committees, enhancing her professional growth and advocacy efforts.Prior to university, Emily participated in the ADF Gap Year program within the Royal Australian Artillery Corps, gaining invaluable skills in leadership, resilience, and communication. As well as participated in domestic operations like Bushfire Assist and cyclone recovery efforts.
