January 2011 – January 2012; Mill Engineer, responsible for R&D Laboratory and Reagent Mixing, Cayeli Copper Works, Rize, Turkey (Inmet Mining Corporation: Toronto, ON, Canada)As mill engineer, my tasks included the reporting of process laboratory and reagent mixing area works conducted on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, sample preparation for chemical analyses, screen analyses, mineralogical composition analyses, filter cakes moisture, quality and control tests, new flotation reagents trials, use and control of Courier and portable X-met equipments, calculation of flotation reagent consumption amounts and operator trainings for new materials.

March 2010 – March 2011: Post-doctoral Researcher – Agnico-Eagle’s LaRonde Mine, Cadillac, Quebec, University of Quebec at Abitibi-Temiscamingue, Rouyn-Noranda (Québec) CanadaI undertook a post-doc project entitled "Study of the physical and hydrogeochemical behaviour of the LaRonde mine tailings in surface paste disposal form by two different field cells" at Agnico-Eagle’s LaRonde Gold-Copper-Zinc Mine (Cadillac, QC, Canada). As a first-degree responsible researcher, my tasks include field tests regarding surface disposal, with specific instrumentation and characterization of paste tailings in order to improve the eventual mine tailings management and efficient restoration. This project aims different objectives: i) application of large-scale surface paste disposal (SPD) in the field (on the LaRonde mine’s surface mine tailings storage site of the); ii) Study of hydro-geochemical behaviour of SPD under the Abitibi-Temiscamingue (Quebec) atmospheric conditions according to different types of placement sequences, and iv) Examining different paste flows (different slump consistencies) and studying different restoration scenarios.

May 2005 – March 2010: Research Assistant & Ph.D. Student; August 2004 – May 2005 Research Trainee – University of Quebec at Abitibi-Temiscamingue, Rouyn-Noranda (Québec) CanadaI did a research project entitled "Laboratory investigation of cemented paste backfill (CPB) samples prepared from mill tailings from Garpenberg Sulphide Mine, Sweden". In this project, my tasks included: design of an innovative experimental apparatus (CUAPS: Curing Under Applied Pressure System) and its testing procedure, and characterization of large volume CPB materials within several configurations: different drained and undrained conditions; different types of placement sequences; different CPB consistencies. Further to this project, I have also pursued a Ph.D. thesis project on "In situ and laboratory performance of cemented paste backfill". The main objective of this project was to investigate the effects of one-dimensional consolidation on performance and quality of fresh and hardened CPB samples using the CUAPS apparatus.

July 2000 – July 2004: Research assistant; August 2001 – December 2003: Master’s Student – Black Sea Technical University (KTU), Trabzon, TurkeyAs a research assistant, I had an effective role in works that have been usually conducted at the department of mining engineering of Black Sea Technical University (KTU). I have also completed a number of industrial and academic research projects as a main investigator or researcher. These projects cover aspects related to underground mine backfill testing design, drilling and blasting design for quarries and tunnelling. I have also been active in a series of educational and teaching activities. I taught the laboratory section of MDM322 Rock Mechanics course for four semesters and some lectures of SEC406 Mining and Environment course for two semesters. I have also completed a Master’s thesis named «Investigating the strength characteristics of cemented paste backfill samples prepared using sulphide-rich mine tailings». From the scientific studies involved in the department, I have produced a number of journal and conference papers and seminars.

As student mill engineer my tasks included; conduct metallurgical test work, perform plant sampling and circuit analysis, and analyze and summarize test data. As mine planning engineer, I focused on day to day tasks associated to short range planning, assisted mine planners with mine design, maintained mine planning map, assisted mine planning map at daily meetings with operations and technical staff, assisted in the progress of daily and weekly mine plans regarding ore blending issues.
