Communicate risks to key stakeholders as needed. • Perform regular geotechnical field inspections with Mine Engineering Department and Mine Operations to assess highwall conditions in active mining areas. Potential geotechnical hazards /slope instabilities are inspected, evaluated, and reported to key stakeholders. • Communicate with Mine Engineering, Hydrology, Mine Operations, Drill and Blast, Radio Communications, IT, and Geology Departments on a daily basis to discuss information regarding geotechnical hazards and/or geotechnical monitoring devices.• Collect, analyze, and interpret geotechnical data from visual inspections, radar monitoring systems, robotic total station (RTS) systems, pin sets, wireline extensometers, and piezometers. • Evaluate rock mass strength and material parameters for kinematic and stability analysis. Report findings to Mining Engineering Department for implementation into mine plan designs. • Perform stability analysis for all Northeastern Surface Operations including open pit mining areas, tailing storage facilities, heap leach facilities, stockpiles, and waste rock storage dumps. Slope stability recommendations are provided to the Mine Engineering department. • Perform annual review of Ground Control Management Plan (GCMP) and other Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure plans are still relevant and in compliance with Newmont’s operational standards.• Write SOPs for the Geotechnical Engineering Group focusing on software usage, monitoring, and geotechnical hazards. SOPs regarding geotechnical hazard, slope instabilities, or active mining areas are communicated to key stakeholders. • Develop and present Mine Operations Crew Communications focusing on potential geotechnical hazards in active mining areas. • Provide site training and safety induction for all external consultants working with Geotechnical Group.
