Errol McClelland has a long career as an entrepreneur with experience in diverse industries, from underground mining to importing and distribution, plus an eight-year stint in the Victoria Police Force. He is the founding director of health brand TurmeriX.Born and raised in New Zealand, Errol moved to Australia at age 17. His business interests range from spring water distribution to developing niche products, including a lead pellet-retrieving machine for gun clubs.Suffering from ankle pain after ineffective surgery, Errol experimented with turmeric as an anti-inflammatory and discovered it worked. Enthused about sharing its benefits, he created a range of turmeric-based products, including a herb and spice blend now listed with the Therapeutic Goods Administration, marketed as TurmeriX.Starting from a spice factory in Melbourne and selling through markets, TurmeriX is now a global wholesale distributor, supplying across Australia, New Zealand, USA, Sweden, Estonia, Norway, Germany, France Canada and the UK to name but a few, with exclusive retail licences issued by sales area. In just four years the company went from idea to international business with $20million in annual turnover.Combining extensive start-up experience and a personally-driven passion for the product that has reduced his pain, Errol is poised to apply his sales and marketing expertise to the next phase of TurmeriX’s growth: global expansion. With an eye to the future, he is also looking to make its products more sustainable and environmentally friendly to ensure good health doesn’t cost the earth.
