CBS News hired me leading up to the 2016 presidential election as a Washington-based correspondent contributing to the “CBS Evening News,” “CBS This Morning,” “Face the Nation” and all CBS News broadcasts and platforms.I also fill-in at the anchor desk for "CBS Weekend News," "CBS This Morning: Saturday," and the 24-hour streaming broadcast CBSN. My weekend duties in Washington D.C. have me covering the Trump administration, including several question and answer sessions with the President, including a 20-minute press pool interview with him aboard Air Force One. My early reporting for the network took me to Peru to cover Barack Obama’s final overseas trip as President, to Congress for Donald Trump’s first visit as President-elect, and along the United States’ southeast coastline as Hurricane Matthew ominously approached.Outside of politics, I've also reported for a "CBSN Originals" documentary on cryptocurrency mining controversies in small American towns, premiering August, 2018.

This experience truly changed my life.I anchored eight hours of live news each week on a broadcast seen in more than 200 million households around the world. ‘CNN Newsroom’ aired weekday mornings on CNN International and simulcast weeknights on CNN/US. I covered breaking news events including the protests in Ferguson, Missouri, death of comedian Robin Williams, and the January, 2015 Paris terror attacks. Previously I served as a general assignment correspondent based in Johannesburg, South Africa covering the death of Nelson Mandela, the Oscar Pistorius murder trial and the unrest in South Africa's volatile mining industry. As host of the award-winning cultural affairs program ‘Inside Africa,’ I trekked 22 African nations in 2 years. My self-styled journey of discovery included stories on endangered lemurs of Madagascar, dying Arabic-Swahili music styles in Tanzania and bungee jumping over the Zambezi River in Zambia.CNN and its global staff were awarded the Peabody Award for coverage of the Arab Spring in 2011. At that time, I solo anchored a weekday Middle East news hour from CNN's bureau in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E. Beyond my role as anchor/correspondent, I've moderated numerous forums for the World Bank, Mo Ibrahim Foundation and the International Press Institute among others. Previously, I anchored weekend editions of CNNI's 'World Report' and hosted a monthly social media program 'iReport for CNN.' As a correspondent, I focused on the emerging importance of social networking, and incorporated it into breaking news coverage.
