I am journalist/social entrepreneur with a specific interest in the flows of money and most of all: gripping stories. I'm co-founder and editor in chief of Follow the Money (FTM.nl), the first independent (for profit) platform for investigative journalism in the Netherlands. We strive for transparency and justice in a world that is ever more controlled by economic motives.Follow the Money has more than 25.000 paying subscribers (February 2021).In September 2004 my first book - De broncode (The sourcecode) - was published. It's a story about a man who invented an unthinkable coding technology that would change the world. He died before he could transfer the sourcecode. It became a Dutch bestseller. In March 2010 my second bestseller hit the shelves - Nina, de onweerstaanbare opkomst van een powerlady (literally translated: Nina, the irresistible emergence of a powerlady). The main character of the book - the founder of the internet company World Online - put serious effort in trying to prevent the publication of this book.In 2013 I won the journalism award De Tegel with the talented mr. Jesse Frederik. 2018 was the year that journalist Kim van Keken and I were awarded Dutch journalist of the year (2017) and we also won the Anne Vondeling prize for political journalism for our muckraking stories that disclosed the unethical business dealings of the chairman of the most powerful political party of the Netherlands (VVD).
