The Expertise Center for Climate Extremes (ECCE) of the University of Lausanne is based at the Faculty of Business and Economics (HEC) and the Faculty of Geosciences and Environment (FGSE). It performs research and proposes services on the forecast of climate extremes and their impacts as well as the assessment of the risks associated with climate extremes in the current and future climates. A founding principle of ECCE is a strong interdisciplinarity, which is essential to successfully address the challenges posed by climate change.My main activities include:- Defining the strategy of the center, leading its development, and ensuring its management and representation.- Positioning the center within the scientific community and as a platform of general interest.- Actively seeking funding to finance the center's activities, research projects and development.- Defining and leading research projects, publishing, teaching in continuing education programs, and ensuring scientific mediation.

My main activities included:- Taking full responsibility for 4 lecture courses (in the field of statistics) per year, each lecture course involving 2 hours lecture and 2 hours exercises per week.- Mentoring/supervising students.- Performing autonomous (i.e., without supervisor) research in the fields of meteorology, statistics, and quantitative risk management.

I worked on statistics applied to severe weather under the supervision of Prof. J. H. Blanchet, Prof. R. A. Davis, Prof. A. H. Sobel and Prof. M. K. Tippett within the Department of Statistics and the Earth Institute.
