Eighteen years of experience in dam safety and geotechnical engineering for hydroelectric developments regulated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC):• Developed and reviewed Supporting Technical Information Document (STID), Dam Safety Surveillance and Monitoring Plan (DSSMP), and Dam Safety Surveillance and Monitoring Report (DSSMR).• Developed and managed instrumentation databases, developed action and threshold levels for monitoring dam safety performance, evaluated dam safety performance using surveillance and instrumentation data, and assisted with dam safety inspection.• Assisted the dam owner’s engineers in developing responses, plans, and schedules to address dam safety recommendations from the Part 12D Independent Consultants and FERC.• Served as a member of the Potential Failure Mode Analysis (PFMA) core team and prepared the PFMA reports.• Authored several sections of the dam safety guidance document, including geotechnical exploration, concrete dam stability analysis, and concrete dam potential failure modes.• Conducted embankment dam and gravity dam stability analyses for numerous dam safety evaluation and remediation projects.• Performed seismic performance evaluations for embankment dam remediation projects. The evaluation included seepage analysis, static and dynamic finite element analyses, liquefaction analysis, and post-earthquake slope stability analysis.• Designed a spillway wing wall and internal drainage for embankment dam seepage and internal erosion control.• Developed and managed a geotechnical field exploration, instrument installation, and laboratory testing program.• Assessed the risks associated with drilling in and near embankment dams and developed the risk mitigation measures in the Drilling Program Plan (DPP).• Developed, reviewed, and managed engineering calculations, specifications, drawings, and reports.• Developed project proposals and budgets, managed projects, and led a team of engineers.• Mentored junior-level engineers.
