Erwin E. Torres is an Associate Professor V at Bicol University (BU) and is known for his expertise in the fields of agricultural and natural resource economics, environmental planning and management, and data analytics. He held key roles as the Director of Planning and Development and the Center for Policy Studies and Development. He is an expert in supply and value chain analysis, economic valuation of natural resources, and impact evaluation and has conducted studies supported by DOST, DA, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the International Fund for Agricultural Development, and more. He also reviews articles for socio-economic journals in the Philippines. With a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics from the University of the Philippine Los Baños, a Master in Economics from BU, a Diploma in Environment and Natural Resource Management from UP Open University, he is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics at UPLB. He actively participates in professional organizations, such as the Philippine Institute of Environmental Planners – Albay Chapter, Philippine Association of Agriculturists – Canarium ovatum Chapter, Philippine Economics Society, CHED Regional Council of Deans, Inc., and the University of the Philippines Alumni Association – Mayon Chapter, where he performs leadership roles. As a researcher and research manager, he serves as a technical research consultant for DOST PCAARRD, DA BFAR Ticao-Burias Pass Protected Seascape Management Board, DOH Bicol Regional Hospital and Medical Center, and CHED Office of Planning, Research and Knowledge Management. In 2019, he received recognition as one of the Centennial Outstanding Alumni of the UPLB Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics.
