Erwin Roebroeks is a self-employed writer, researcher, and curator in the field of music. He received a degree of excellence from the Belgian State Academy of Music and master’s degrees in both Corporate Communication and Comparative Art Science (passed with distinction) from Radboud University Nijmegen. He was a critic for "Neue Zeitschrift für Musik" and wrote programme notes and essays for institutions like Bayerische Staatsoper and Concertgebouworkest. He was a guest curator at the 2013 Biennale di Venezia and curated music festivals in Germany and Belgium. In 2016, he delivered the keynote speech at the Opera Europa Spring Conference on the future of opera. In 2019, he got a German state scholarship to do research in Venice. His most recent book "Ik dwang. Genezen van een obsessief-compulsieve stoornis", published in 2021 by leading Dutch publisher De Bezige Bij, received raving reviews.
