I am a Jicarilla Apache and Pueblo of Laguna writer, musician, and media strategist based on the Jicarilla Apache Nation. For the last several years I have been a land, body, water, and food sovereignty advocate, youth mentor, and storyteller uplifting frontline and community conversations through non-extractive media. I am a former nonprofit co-director, communications director, program manager, and current community organizer. I was a co-founding director of the Indigenous Impact Community Care Initiative, a mutual aid program launched at the onset of COVID-19, which served the 21 tribes of New Mexico, and 68 nations outside of NM, and ultimately distributed over 225K pieces of personal protective equipment. I have had the honor of working with many youth-led initiatives and am a co-founding mentor to the International Indigenous Youth Council where together, we resisted the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline in Standing Rock, ND; resulting in the awarding of the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Award to the IIYC in 2018. I am currently an advocate and mentor for Six Nations youth and youth of the Kawenni:io/Gaweni:yo Private School in Six Nations of the Grand River Territory in southern Ontario. Additionally, I have worked with several grassroots and non-profit organizations to support media and frontline campaigns resisting extraction on unceded, treaty-protected Indigenous lands.
