I'm the kid that would rather read than go to recess. I never thought I'd be a writer though because I didn’t have the attention span to keep a diary. As I grew up, my love of books slowly turned into a love of creating my own stories. Despite coming from a family with a real estate background, I went to art school to learn more about the process of writing.In college, I realized three things:1. I love writing.2. I love learning and highlighting stories of people who are usually ignored and outside of my worldview.3. Art school wasn't showing me enough about how to use my writing in different professional ways. So, unless I managed to write the next bestseller right out of college (which I didn’t want the pressure of doing) I needed to learn how to use my writing in other ways beyond creative.That’s when I stumbled into copywriting and marketing. I still get to tell stories and learn about a variety of subjects through these professions. It’s also an interesting way to see how people think and act. Fun fact about me: I once had to write 30 different articles about houseplants and I still found interesting tidbits by the end of it.
