• Worked with the Department of Energy and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory to study the effects of relaminarization on cooling efficiency of helium gas flow in 2D vane channels• Modeled, meshed, and simulated helium gas flow over two-dimensional vane geometry in ANSYS Workbench and FLUENT to better understand gas flow within channels• Varied fluid domain dimensions to manipulate location of relaminarization to increase cooling efficiency• Self-studied fundamental boundary-layer theory to contextualize understand significance of exported project data.

• Collaboratively designed thrust chumber assembly of Nephas, a 2000 lbf gimballed reusable LCH4/LOx, deep throttling, additively manufactured rocket engine.• Calculated nozzle parameters using ONC (Optimal Nozzle Contour) program, TDK (Two Dimensional Kinetic) code, and ANSYS fluid simulations. Specifically, simulated heat transfer in the regenerative cooling channels.• Worked on a team to create MATLAB script simulating heat transfer from combustion chamber to regenerative cooling channels to optimize cooling while maintaining phase change from gaseous to liquid CH4
