Overhead Line (OHL) design encompasses the identification of potential line routes, managing stakeholders, securing planning permission, detailed engineering design, and material procurement, defined construction supervision activities, and providing technical assistance to clients and their contractors during construction.Duties Included:• Design of Overhead Lines (PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER)• Contractor and construction supervision.• Foundation specification and design.• Supervision and quality control in construction of overhead lines and installation of foundations.• OPPC (Optical Phase Conductor) & OPGW (Optical Phase Ground Wire) design.• Problem solving – utilising ADSS (All Dielectric Self Support) to facilitate telecoms upgrade.

Given responsible role in the following• Completed load-take-down analysis of 19 critical columns on a major development in Dublin City Centre.• Compared the efficiency of a truss solution verses a fabricated I-section for a 16m transfer beam. • Surveyed, analysed and redesigned an existing timber beam for the Brown Thomas redevelopment on Grafton St. Dublin.• Used Oasys GSA (General Structural Analysis) to model a multi-storey building.• Verified designs of several composite floors of varying spans using Oasys Compos.• Attended site meetings at St. Vincent’s hospital with the architect and the main contractor. • Researched the viability of implementing solar technology in several locations around the globe and explored the viability of construction in the United Arab Emirates.

Role involved assisting the Residential Engineer in supervision of the construction of an 18 turbine wind-farm.Given responsible role in the following• Ensuring the contractor complied with the necessary standards for constructing a floating road over peat subsoil.• Kept a record of the progress/condition of the site using a site diary and ensured river sediment levels were within acceptable limits.• Ensured clients complied with project specifications by producing a systematic spreadsheet listing all the employers’ requirements, including those of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), for which my superior received praise from the client. • Solely represented my firm (MWP) in meetings, discussing relevant issues with the client, contractor and subcontractors.
