In this role I am responsible for the management of client projects, supervising ground investigations, preparing construction phase health and safety plans, logging of soil and bedrock samples, and factual and interpretive geo-environmental reporting.- During projects, delays are often experienced because of issues at the laboratories testing environmental and geotechnical samples; and this can impact project timings- I have developed and implemented a sample management system, including requesting receipts from laboratories on sample arrival, and estimation of turnaround times- This has resulted in the laboratories becoming more efficient, with any potential delays identified; and procedures implemented to manage those delays- Winter drilling can become problematical when the ground becomes waterlogged; if issues like this occur, then communication with the site manager becomes key- I have implemented strategies to combat issues associated with winter drilling, such as- Liaising with the site manager from day one, and explaining the potential for delays due to weather/ground conditions- Using client’s equipment in addition to that of Groundtech- Using planks, track mats, and tracked dumpers to aid in manoeuvring around site
