Executing my thesis project for STIL, a medical orthosis design company. Learning what it is like to design in the medical field while using skills from both my MSc. Integrated Product Design and BEng. Mechanical Engineering.

Worked with the Department of Hematology at the VUMC, where people are treated for blood cancer, to try and improve the stay of patients through design. I focused on design for interaction through the senses to encourage the wandering of the mind when the body cannot. This project was for the course Advanced Concept Design in my Masters studies.

Conducted a 6-person student project with DORC to redesign a cataract surgery tool to be more sustainable with regard to the three pillars: environmental, social and economic. I sketched, prototyped, machined, interviewed, and tested throughout the process. As well, I collaborated with nurses, surgeons, and experts in precision tool machining throughout the design process to ensure the final product was feasible, desirable, and viable. Worked with the Northern Energy Innovation team to perform technical assessments on the impact of implementing renewable resources in remote communities. Focused on analyzing the behaviour of the protective devices in local power systems using MATLAB and Simulink.

Worked to bring the design of an injection molded bumper from concept development through to production, with multiple now in use on helicopters.Created SolidWorks models and drawings to aid in assembly visualization and part development.Introduced and utilized a reliable 3D printing system for rapid prototyping of small helicopter parts.Researched and implemented a reverse engineering procedure centered on 3D scanning.

Provided a fun, safe atmosphere for children between the ages of 4 and 12 to learn and practice essential swim skills.

Developed and conducted engaging swim lessons for children and adults. Life guarded during busy public swim times, demonstrating attentiveness and ability to work in stressful situations.
