For more than 30 years, I have been the owner, president and principal engineer of JMEC Engineering Inc. I am responsible for the overall management, resource allocations, field activities, business development, budget and quality control for all JMEC's projects.I am a licensed civil engineer and structural engineer in the State of California, and a licensed professional engineer in British Columbia, Canada. I have over 30 years of civil and structural engineering experience in the design and construction of bridges, buildings, transit structures and high speed rail structures. I have extensive experiences on seismic analysis and design of bridges and buildings, including the use of conventional and advanced engineering techniques such as seismic isolation bearings and dampers.I have completed several award winning bridge projects in California including the New Benicia-Martinez Bridge, the New Bay Bridge and the East Fork Road Bridge over San Gabriel River Seismic Retrofit Project that won the ASCE MLAB Outstanding Structural Engineering Project of the Year Award 2016 and ASCE Los Angeles Section Structural Engineering Project of the Year 2016. The Portola Road Bridge Replacement Project in the Town of Woodside won the APWA Santa Clara Project of the Year award in 2022.Design-Build projects that I have completed include serving as seismic design consultant for a cable stay bridge for the 4th Crossing across the Panama Canal; providing bid support and alternative design services for the Metro Line 2 in Panama, and serving as independent checking engineer for various high-speed rail structures for the California High Speed Rail Project - CP4. I am experienced in completing federally-aid projects, including HBP and FEMA projects, and multi-disciplinary projects involving agency coordination, permitting, architectural, electrical, mechanical, structural, traffic and civil engineering. The aggregate construction value of projects that I have completed is more than several billion of USD. I am the author and co-author of 8 professional papers and reports on Nonlinear Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Structures, including a publication in 2008 Concrete Bridge Conference on “Seismic Retrofit Analysis Approaches of BART A-Line North Aerial Structures”.
