My System’s Engineering degree has given me a solid background across a number of engineering disciplines.I have over 25 years’ experience in systems engineering of complex systems, including 12 years in the Defence Aviation Industry and 10 years in design for Extremely Large Telescopes. For the last 2 years I have been heavily focused on Artificial Intelligence.For almost 14 years now, I have been consulting through my own business.Due to my engineering experience and ability, I gain the confidence and respect of my managers and colleagues. This was evidenced by my promotion to Aerospace Engineering Manager for Raytheon’s Sydney office. Previously, I have also held the role of Test Director for a major aircraft integration. Both roles required management of a technical team, customer liaison and having to liaise closely with upper management and stakeholders. My experience, knowledge and judgement have also been formally recognised through being awarded the role and authority of Deputy Senior Design Engineer within the Australian Defence Force Airworthiness Regulatory system.More recently I have lead teams in the design of a Laser Guide Star System (LGS), design of the Laser Tomography Adaptive Optics (LTAO) System and design of a cryogenic instrument (GMTIFS), for the Giant Magellan Telescope (GMT). I then went on to be the Telescope Systems Engineer for the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT).I continue to have a focus on and passion for systems engineering of complex systems and for the integration of AI as a tool for human productivity.
