My career began with a desire to become the first singing pediatrician and help to heal children with the soothing sound of music. Today, that dream has evolved into a passion for designing healing environments. While I still love to sing, the past decade has been spent fulfilling the role of lead healthcare planner on a variety of building projects. Hospital master planning, mobile clinic design, ambulatory surgery prototyping, hospital renovation and expansions, and new hospital construction are just a few of the projects that I have enjoyed working on. It was my years of developing workshops for the Annual Planetree Conferences while at Albert Kahn, that ignited a deeper quest to approach planning in a way that is patient-centered, caregiver sensitive, and highly efficient. I received my Evidence-Based Design Accreditation and Certification in July 2010, and am currently more involved in research-informed design at LS3P. As an experienced healthcare planner, researcher, and research project manager, I bring a well-rounded approach to the design process and can be a strategic partner in addressing the challenges of healthcare design.
