GeoscientistInstitute Of Engineering Mar 2006 - Feb 2009My position in this institution required processing and interpreting remote sensing data to identify geological and geomorphologic features and potential areas for mining and petroleum exploration.Main Tasks:Interpret and map remote sensing data: I have interpreted geologic and geomorphologic features, as well as identified anomalous areas, in remote sensing data in the following projects: 1) La Blanquilla Island project, where I mapped the lithological units and type of relieves by interpreting Ikonos and Aster data; 2) In The Orinoco Oil Belt Project, along with other professionals, I interpreted and mapped the geological formations and forms of relieves in an area of 56.000 km2, using Landsat data, digital elevation models from the SRTM and slope models, followed by extensive field work and 3) Thermal anomalies detection using the ASTER thermal bands.Process remote sensing data: the techniques applied have been several, including geometric and radiometric corrections, image classification, standard processing of digital imagery.Hyper-spectral processing techniques: I have applied hyper-spectral techniques to hyper-spectral data (Hyperion images) and multi-spectral data (ASTER images), like the algorithms of Minimum Noise Fraction (MNF), Pixel Purity Index (PPI), n-dimensional visualizer and mapping techniques.Field work: every project I was part included extensive geologic and geomorphologic field work in order to corroborate and adjust the interpretation made in laboratory.Apply GPS techniques: to locate geological features in maps or geo-referenced satellite images and to obtain "ground control points" needed in some types of geometric correction (differential GPS techniques).Instructor in training courses: I have taught several courses of remote sensing at basic and intermediate level. These courses were focused in imagery digital processing.
