During my 15 year career in law enforcement, I became adept at the line level operations and responsibilities, and I did so while earning my B.S in administration of criminal justice. I was also a successful investigator for several years solving cases ranging from property crimes to homicides.I spent five years as a Corporal and was given many opportunities to perform leadership, management, and administrative duties which enhanced my capabilities. I oversaw daily operations of my patrol team as the watch commander, including duties such as scheduling, direct supervision, and critical incident management. I spent a great deal of my time administrating training programs such as the field training program and firearms program. My responsibilities included preparing performance evaluations, conducting internal affairs investigations, and recommending corrective training or progressive discipline. I provided policy analysis, recommendations, and prepared drafts for the Chief of Police. Often, I was assigned to be a problem solver and find solutions to areas of operational concern, leading me to conduct audits/analysis of crime statistics and of confidential information.I performed in a management role by training and motivating my subordinates, using a “lead from the front” attitude and taking a “management by walking around approach.” My management style stressed officer’s accountability to the department, and to their peers, to promote the agency’s mission, values, and vision. I emphasized effective communication to enhance unit cohesion and distinguished myself as a reliable, thorough, and resourceful team member.In 2018 I took on a role with Securitas as the Security Account Manager at Kaiser Richmond Medical Center. My focus was on building the culture of a successful security team, recruiting, training, and retaining valuable security officers, and developing effective policies and procedures, all of which was directed at meeting the clients needs.
