Estella is the Geospatial Ecosystems Specialist – Resource Mapping, Inventory, and Monitoring (RMIM) within Geospatial Technology and Applications Center (GTAC). She assists with projected related to Terrestrial Ecological Unit Inventory (TEUI), Terrestrial Condition Assessment (TCA), and soils. Estella has a diverse experience working for both the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and Forest Service (FS) for over 15 years. She started her career as a NRCS soil conservationist student trainee in Gettysburg/York, PA and then for Western PA. Her FS career began as a Soil Scientist in the Southwestern Region on the Terrestrial Ecological Unit Inventory (TEUI) crew in Phoenix, Arizona. She then transferred to the NRCS Soil Survey Region 12 in Amherst, MA as a Soil Data Quality Specialist. She conducted quality assurance on the national soil database for three Major Land Resource Area offices (Dover-Foxcroft, ME; Paul Smiths, NY & Grand Rapids, MI). Estella then transferred to the National Forests in Alabama as the Forest Soil Scientist. She managed the soil, water, and ecology programs. She was also the technical support lead for Collector/Field Maps/Survey123 on the forest. Estella also completed details to the Santa Fe National Forest as a Soil and Watershed Program Manager, the Southwestern Regional Office as the Mobile GIS Specialist, and a Program Assistant for the Geospatial Technology and Applications Center within Resource Mapping, Inventory and Monitoring for the Forest Service.Estella is working on completing a Post-baccalaureate Certificate focused in Geographic Information Systems from Penn State University – World Campus.
