Humphreys School Of Law Aug 2010 - Dec 2014Reinvigorated a dormant career services office, including developing completely new programming, establishing comprehensive career counseling beginning in the first year of law school, and by overseeing the adoption of a paperless data management system. Programming ranges from substantive day in the life panel discussions on different practice areas to job search strategies. Regularly bring in local attorneys to work with the students. Work closely with the Memphis Bar Association and the Association of Women Attorneys to provide training to law students on professionalism, etiquette and the business of the practice of law.Initiatives include the creation and implementation of Esq. Build, a solo incubator program for graduates of Memphis Law. In collaboration with the Memphis Bar Association and Memphis Area Legal Services, Esq. Build provides monthly training regarding the practical matters of setting up a law office, financial management, client development, marketing, case management and professionalism. In addition, we pair each participant of the Esq. Build program with an attorney mentor and a non-attorney mentor through the Service Corps of Retired Executives (S.C.O.R.E). Participants learn how to create business plans as well as how to practice law.Other initiatives include the creation and implementation of a Career Action Team (CAT) . In recognizing the changes in the economy, CAT was created to assist recent graduates in finding employment. As the facilitator of CAT, I worked with graduates in small group settings to help them create elevator pitches, develop networking skills and to create individual job search plans.Created a mandatory pro bono program for the law students including the hiring of a public interest counselor. Other responsibilities include the reporting of CLE credits for faculty members, pairing law students with mentors and organizing law firm recruiting. -
