About Ester Kalef Ezra
As a Biologist with more than 12 years of lab and data analysis experience in Cell/Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, and NGS, I am passionate about how our cells and bodies function in health and disease. I am enthusiastic about supporting others and making a better world for everyone. I collaborate, train, mentor, and supervise others very efficiently. For example, I am an In2Research tutor to help disadvantaged students succeed in a career in science. I participate in Career Coaching and Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) committees.I was born in a small city in Greece called Ioannina. From my childhood, I have been passionate about how our cells and living organisms function. Thus, I studied Biology. I combined my passion for life sciences with travelling by living and exploring other cities in Greece, Sweden, and the UK. At the heart of my professional journey is a compelling drive to contribute to scientific advancements that promise to unravel the complexities of human diseases. I have worked on various projects related to cell biology, skin biology, DNA mutations, and neurodegeneration. With over 13 years of laboratory experience, I have developed expertise in single-cell whole genome sequencing, cell culture (mammalian primary cells, cell lines, bacteria, yeast), molecular and cellular biology methods (including Western Blot, qPCR, and Molecular cloning), and biochemical and mitochondrial assays. I am also experienced and enjoy doing data analysis. At UCL, I investigated the genetic mosaicism in Parkinson's Disease by developing new SOPs and performing single-cell whole-genome sequencing experiments. This dedication is evident in the over 4000 single nuclei prepared for Whole-Genome Sequencing, which is critical to understanding the nature and roles of somatic Copy Number Variation (CNVs).Recently, I joined Meridian Life Sciences as a senior scientist in R&D. My role is to develop and optimize molecular biology reagents for improved diagnostics and scientific research, according to ISO13485 standards.Key strengths: data-achieving, compassion, organization, resourceful, fast learner.
Listed skills include Molecular Biology, Western Blotting, Biochemistry, Research, and 22 others.
