I am an apprentice on the BBC Early Careers Production Fast Track apprenticeship, working in Children’s & Education.

As one of the seven screenwriters chosen to participate in the NFTS's two week craft residential course, I attended a writers weekend where I developed my short film script with a mentor, and later attended a pre-residential weekend with all 77 participants of the course. My film was going to made later in the two week residential, however this had to be cancelled due to COVID-19. During the two weekends, I still got to attend masterclasses and learn valuable insights into the pre-production of film.

I took part in one of several BFI Film Academies nationwide, where I was part of a group mentored by industry professionals whilst making a short film. I had a key role in writing the script, along with directing a scene, taking on the role of AD, and working behind the scenes during production to make sure the shoot ran smoothly and efficiently. Part of the course was also running a mini film festival for children and families, where I ran a film poster photoshop stand.

I was one of twenty-five promising young writers chosen to participate in the BFI's Young Screenwriters week-long training programme in Newcastle, where I was taught and mentored by industry professionals, and wrote a short screenplay which was then read by professional actors.
