After my thesis, I continued working as an 'Online Communications Specialist', where the communication channels such as the intranet, newsletter, website, social media as well as the associated content strategy and data lay within my responsibility. Following my advice from my thesis, I got the opportunity to head up the intranet renewal project in which we connected all our learning company intranets into one environment in SharePoint Online, applied the latest Microsoft innovations and rolled out new features with Viva Connections and Viva Engage. In addition, I support within various projects and internal events such as, for example, the international onboarding, Share Views Week, Walk Challenge, as well as change projects such as the roll-out of a new HRIS system, but also act as the point of contact for matters regarding branding and our visual identity.

I completed my thesis for Sanoma Learning, focusing on the key question of how to better optimise the engagement of the more than 3,000 employees in (now) 12 European countries using internal communications. I very much enjoyed working on this research, which I was able to complete with an 8 for my thesis and an 8.5 for the defence. Besides my research, I worked in the communications team with the daily activities as the intranet, newsletter, corporate website, international onboarding sessions and more, but also focusing on two big projects: 1. organising the first online international event during Covid: the 'Share Views Week' - with an opening programme live from the studio and the rest of the week filled with no less than 16 inspiring webinars and activities to bring colleagues together. 2. At Sanoma Media, I gained my first experience working in an organisation with more than 1,000 employees and a greater focus on internal communications. Here, I contributed within various activities such as the intranet, the daily newsletter, communications within the office, the website and social media channels as well as writing, or supporting, press releases and drawing up press lists. But also setting up an Internship Community the size of no less than 60 members across the different brands and organising events and activities to bring the community together. I also assisted at the time of the takeover of Sanoma Media by DPG Media, during which I was able to witness an acquisition close by. In addition, I was able to contribute to internal events and activities such as the monthly lunch sessions with our CEO, quarterly employee conferences, Christmas party, Bring Your Mother To Work Day, Working At videos for the website... and more. ;-)

A few years after my internship at Zwaan & Schouten, I returned to working at the company during the summer holidays. In doing so, I mainly helped create brochures of the houses on sale, window presentations, brochures and the presentation on Funda, as well as promotion and maintenance on the company's website and social media channels.

After my internship at Ziber, I continued working for a few months alongside my communications studies. This included being partly responsible for the newsletter to our customers, the website and social media channels and keeping the support page up to date with articles and tutorial videos. But also other communication activities for events and fairs (such as the NOT fair in Utrecht). A wonderful company where I was able to take a look behind the scenes at the development of a CMS for both business customers and the development of the new parent app for schools, working with Narrowcasting systems, got introduced to 'Scrum' working and took my first steps in the communication profession.
