Hi, my name’s Esther! And I am the founder of Mighty Oaks.I am an entrepreneur, author, and singer (amongst other things). I am also an expert by experience. By that I mean, I have 16yrs of lived experience as a looked after child in the care system and 10+yrs of experience with mental health services involvement. For over a decade, I’ve worked alongside several universities; providing lecturers and students with deeper insights into what services feel like, from the perspective of a service user.Through my business, Mighty Oaks, I deliver workshops and services to those supporting adults with mental health challenges aswell as those working with and supporting looked after children. I help raise awareness of mental health and trauma, as well as the voice of the child and service user.I aim to support professionals, carers and individuals in gaining a deeper understanding of the people that they’re supporting; encouraging a more compassionate and trauma-informed approach in practice. Practicing in this way reduces the likelihood of further traumatisation of those who are reliant on services and others for support.
