Lead Goods Negotiator for the Regional Closer Economic Partnership (RCEP) negotiations and the India-New Zealand FTA. I'm also working with a MFAT and cross-agency team on the analysis and strategy development for trade implications arising from Brexit and our post-Brexit relationship with the UK.

The High Commission is responsible for carrying out the New Zealand Government’s business with India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. I am responsible for advancing New Zealand's interests with respect to trade and economic issues, and climate change. This work includes a focus on progressing the New Zealand-India FTA and the RCEP negotiations, and looking for opportunities to deepen New Zealand's economic and trade relationship with India. I support New Zealand companies with market access and regulatory challenges. My role as Second Secretary requires an ability to advocate New Zealand's position and interests and to establish good networks and contacts so as to build strong relationships with business, government and the diplomatic corp.During my time in Delhi I also took on the role of Acting Deputy High Commissioner from August 2015 - January 2016 with responsibility for ensuring continuity during staffing changeover, managing a team of three policy advisers, setting team work priorities, managing policy delivery, leading projects and the team’s contribution to those.

Responsible for providing legal advice and supporting negotiations with respect to the New Zealand Government's free trade agreement negotiations, with specific focus on services, financial services, investment and competition, including market access issues. My role included drafting legal text, providing legal advice and negotiating provisions with respect to my specialist areas in the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiation rounds. I have also provided legal advice ahead of the negotiations for the Russia-New Zealand FTA, India-New Zealand FTA and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).
