Historic Environment Consultant providing informed expert advice on historic environment-related matters. Experience of working on a wide range of projects in all areas of the historic environment including listed buildings, historic buildings and places, conservation areas and archaeology.Esther believes that a thorough understanding of context and significance at project inception are key to successful project delivery. This approach is emphasised as it allows for the early identification of challenges and opportunities which can inform, develop and articulate a client’s strategy and vision. With her background in real estate finance, Esther also understands development economics and viability which informs a targeted and holistic approach that can benefit clients in the key risk areas of project finance and time management.Working with long-standing heritage partners, and clients including statutory consultees, charities, government agencies and developers, Esther has significantly contributed to the successful delivery of complex and high-profile projects. These range from preparing the historic environment assessment for English Heritage’s £5 million footbridge project at Tintagel Castle to project managing the Architectural Heritage Fund’s (AHF) establishment of a £7 million Heritage Impact Fund and the £15 million Transforming Places Through Heritage Programme, which forms part of the government's Future High Streets Fund.Esther has a MA in the Archaeology of Buildings from the University of York and is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries (FSA). She is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (CIfA) and a CIfA accredited member (MCIfA). She provides CPD training on good practice in the historic environment in planning-led contexts on behalf of CIfA. Esther is the former co-lead (with Alan Chandler) of the London School of Architecture's Part 4 course "Working with Heritage".Esther is a Trustee of the AHF and sits on several panels and committees including the AHF's HIF Credit Panel and The Twentieth Century Society's Casework Committee. She is also a Member of the Oxford Diocesan Advisory Committee advising on archaeological matters.With a thorough working knowledge of architectural history of all periods and experience in the analysis and interpretation of historic buildings and archaeological sites she fully understands the issues, both conservation and development related, which affect the historic built environment.
