When I started at Hotel TwentySeven, it had just opened. Being part of the opening team of a hotel has been an experience that has taught me a lot. At TwentySeven I learned how to treat guests that have extremely high expectations.

During my internship at NH Amsterdam Centre I learned a lot. Mostly because, as the Manager On Duty you work together with all departments and have many different responsibilities. my complaint handling and problem solving skills have definitely developed enormously during these 4 months.

As a trainee at the Sales Department of Hotel Okura Amsterdam I supported the entire Sales team. My daily tasks were mostly administrative. Luckily I also got the chance to work on other interesting projects such as the organisation of the yearly client event. The event was a grand success! 200 guests attended and lots of sales were derived from it.

Via The Hospitalitist, I work at different hospitality establishments in Amsterdam. The Hospitalitist works together with the most luxurious hotels, bars and restaurants in the city. I prefer to work mainly in the partner hotels, such as Waldorf Astoria, because I specifically want to gain more experience in the hotelbusiness. Nevertheless, I also very much enjoy working during events since event management is also one of my interests.

As a part of the first year of Hotel- and Eventmanagement, students need to do an internship in a hotel to gain more practical experience. I did this work placement at a small five star boutique hotel on Mallorca in the F&B department. I worked evening shifts in the restaurant, day shifts as The Poolbar manager and morningshifts as Breakfast Supervisor. I got to learn a lot about the different F&B outlets and about working together and supervising others.

Besides my studies at the University of Applied Sciences "TIO" in Amsterdam, I worked parttime at the Doubletree hotel to put to practise what I learned during my education.

As a member of the banqueting team at the Double Tree I make sure that our guests have a great event, meeting, wedding or presentation. We produce over 500 events per year. During events I am our guest's first point of contact, and make sure beverages, food and meeting needs are all taken care of. I assist in preparing the events and afterwards as a team we make sure that the event spaces and meeting rooms look tidy and clean again.
