I help companies develop medical devices that drive market adoption.The first decade of my career I spent as a design engineer. In the CAD tube, prototyping, testing, manufacturing – the exciting parts of seeing new ideas come to life.But over time, I grew frustrated that the amazing new medical technologies I was part of developing weren’t gaining traction in the market. As an engineer, I believed that the merits of the product should drive demand. I couldn’t understand why these compelling products that had such potential of saving and improving lives weren’t taking off.About midway through my career, I saw the flaws in my thinking.I realized that the business of MedTech is about much more than the tech or the product. It involves the clinical outcomes, the healthcare economics, the payer incentives, the distribution channels, the regulatory strategies, the evidence milestones, the investment justifications, and much more. I discovered that MedTech is a competitive and complex industry, where all these variables need to be optimized simultaneously.I am still a product development guy, but my approach is to focus PD on the market factors, tests, and optimizations that will ultimately drive adoption. That means weaving customer discovery, directional research, and feedback sessions into the design and development process. When we are aligned and confident on MedTech-Market fit, we execute on the right vision swiftly and comprehensively. We are an ISO 13485 certified Medical Device Development organization.
