Currently working on major NetEng projects within the Core Network team at Zen.- Work on a Greenfield DC build, including vendor discussions for core network nodes that may be suitable for requirements, fibre path discussions (KLMs, Overlapping Fibres with current runs, DC Chamber Ducts for fully diverse fibres), speaking with IXPs, Transit providers and more. - Work on the exchange expansion to 700 exchanges throughout the UK, this project involved working with the key areas: Netbox, Azure DevOps (Updating Jinja templates and completing pushes to live production devices), Clearpass, BGP. - Complete a migration of 500 IPVPN circuits from an old legacy device to our newly built plexus network; this work included: Collating all of the information to be lift & shifted to the new core devices, pre-building the configuration for L2, L3 (Inc VRRP), to be moved to a Leaf and Spine Network. - Migration of 12 legacy VMs to a main PoP site, again this consisted of a lift and shift with new IPs, VRRP, BGP (Peering/Advertised Routes), Policy-Options and Firewall Filters to be moved over to another Leaf and Spine network, in an alternate location. - Working with Wholesale partners to troubleshoot and onboard new connections, this involved: Q-in-Q (L2 Termination), Policy-Statements, eBGP (Peering/Advertised Routes), Radius/LNS Configuration managed by Github (Staging to Master Merge) for subscriber authentication.- Diagnose and troubleshoot live production issues, speaking with various levels of support (Cisco TAC, Juniper J/ATAC).- Build and configure eBGP peers for peers, CDNs, Caches and new PNI requests that are requested this also included LINX PI discussions for direct fibre runs. - Work alone and with other departments (Infrastructure, DC, NOC etc) for tasks that need to be completed on the core network infrastructure (Network Device decommissions, New network device installations (DWDM Device(s), IP address reclaims and various other tasks).

Since joining UKFast in April, my role was mainly focussed on the key points below: - Providing outstanding customer support, and achieving a high quality feedback from customers. - Acting as a escalation point for junior engineers, and apprentices. - Involvement in CAB to discuss the changes made through change control to reduce risk of any network problems. - Authorise, peer-review and configure Layer 2 changes such as STP, Port-Types, security, vPC configuration and also includes: HSRP/VRRP configuration for HA. - Create and Troubleshoot IPSec VPN and SSL VPN Tunnels between the UKFast network device, and customer solutions. - Experience with configuring and maintaining internet transit and peering with an understanding of the wider internet. - Provide daily checks on UKFasts core network, and conduct network maintenance such as i/eBGP Peer Session Drops, T1 Transit and IX Maintenance, this is to ensure the network is running at optimised performance. - Experience with network troubleshooting at both PE/P levels. - Creating configuration for core switch infrastructure.

When working at Daisy Communications, my job role was a First Line Incident Management Specialist, my roles included:- Diagnosing and Troubleshooting issues with ADSL, FTTC/FTTP, PSTN/ISDN lines.- My role also included working with Gamma products such as Horizon and SIP for VoIP products.Following this, I had a keen interest with Cisco Technologies, after some time my role was moved to a permanent offline position focussing on EFM & Leased Lines, from this my job roles then included:- Working alone or alongside Tier 3 to resolve issues ranging from a standard P2P Dedicated Leased Lines, EFMs & worldwide MPLS circuits. - Bringing to live Ethernet circuits after provisioning build.- Perform troubleshooting & changes on live Ethernet circuits; making sure if any changes are to be made this follows the correct CAB procedure.- Provide support to not only my team however, the whole business to ensure the resolution of the query is dealt with quickly and efficiently.Technical Skills: - Confident with networking protocols such as BGP, OSPF and EIGRP. - Experience with working with Cisco devices ranging from Cisco 887, 1921, 2900/1100 series and the ASR range.- Knowledge of VLANs, Spanning Tree Protocols and understanding of services such as TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP.

- I was Carpetrights/Martin McColls dedicated 1st Line Engineer within Maintel, meaning that I assist and resolve all of their issues they're having, I was the first point of contact when issues happen, I have weekly meetings with their IT department if they have any queries or underlying issues they would like us too look into. I make sure that they can depend on me when they need their problems resolving. - Me & my two team members support ADSL circuit/network(s) for all of Maintels customers.- My job also includes running checks on customers networks/circuits.- Talking with customer(s) about to maintain their current network or improve it.- Making sure that all SLAs are met to a high standard.

In my apprenticeship with Maintel I learnt various skills such as:- Managing Cisco, HP & Aruba equipment either in-house or on customer site. - Pre-staging Cisco routers, HP switches and Aruba APs ready for when the equipment gets to site.- Being first line support when working with Voice (Mitel) products.- Connecting to routers externally to make changes to Cisco routers.- Troubleshooting routers/switches when returned from customers.- Being the first point of contact for customers to asses and diagnose the fault(s) that are occurring on-site.- Teaching customer IT teams how to resolve certain issues without contacting us or taking certain procedures to diagnose the issue before it is logged to us.
