Company which provides devices to venues (hotels/restaurants/retail spaces) for playing curated music unattended, to improve ambience.Next-gen player (Rust/GTK) Re-wrote a "next-gen" version of the antiquated player software running on clients' devices, entirely myself and from scratch. This software powers every device sold, cleverly scheduling music to create an appropriate ambience for the specific client. Integrates with Windows and Linux. Must run for long periods without bugs, crashes, or an Internet connection. Must also be compatible with internal software to reliably update content, itself, monitor and control devices remotely via a central server and an app. Also wrote server software to handle telemetry from thousands of connected clients.

Software Development Engineer. R&D division of L-Acoustics, a manufacturer/installer ofpremium audio systems. L-Acoustics Creations specialises in "spatial audio", i.e. tools formixing music and audio in 360°, on systems with up to 128 speakers. Software is written inC++.ProcessorX (C++/JUCE) Firmware for a processing box which maps the positions of audioobjects in the mix to direct speaker signals, as well as applying various audio effects. Wrotea virtual sound card used for automated testing, which generates audio signals and records theoutput. Integrated a prototype audio driver written by another into the processor’s desktopversion, enabling audio input from software running on the user’s computer. The desktopversion now supports Windows as a result. Learned about audio programming in the process.L-ISA Controller (C++/JUCE) Short for "Immersive Sound Art". GUI controller for theprocessor, used for arranging sonic objects in 360°, focused on live performance. (Usersinclude the BBC Proms, as well as Jean-Michel Jarre’s recent album Oxymore). Designed andimplemented UI counterparts for changes made to the processor firmware. This includes custombuses for the user to route signals to, and a configurable output delay on each connectedprocessor (to account for signal latency). Gained experience with audio and GUI programmingusing JUCE.

Code is written in C# and C++.NAVdisplay (C#/WPF) A GUI program for graphically visualising device measurements.Wrote code for saving/loading user configurations to/from an SQL database, and the UI itfacilitates, as part of a team of six. The code is designed for use by others and is now partof an internal GUI framework.Test and Save (C#/WPF) A plug-in module for NAVdisplay which checks measurements inreal time against user-specified criteria, producing a report on which measurements met them.Had lots of independence in designing/building the user interface component, in co-operationwith a client.
