Providing planning advice and reviewing and advising on site access and parking design for commercial developments.Preparing resource consent applications for various private developments including retirement villages, large format retail developments and childcare centres in Christchurch and other parts of the South Island. Swept path analysis using Sim-Path software to assist clients with parking and access design.Preparation of basic plans using AutoCAD software to support resource consent applications.Leading team member responsible for training graduate staff.

Planning advice, feasibility studies and due diligence, particularly in relation to the Auckland Unitary Plan.Preparation of resource consent applications and assessments of environmental effects for private clients.Processing of resource consents on behalf of Auckland Council, including land use consents, subdivision consents, regional consents (eg. stormwater diversion, structures within streams, groundwater diversion and discharge of contaminants), variations to consents and certificates of compliance. Acting as reporting planner on behalf of Auckland Council at hearings for notified consents.Preparation of Outline Plans of Works for Ministry of Education school developments.Projects include multi-unit residential developments, mixed commercial developments, boarding houses, childcare centres, vegetation clearance within Significant Ecological Areas, public infrastructure (cycle lanes and park lighting), buildings within Historic Heritage Areas, and development of sites in Outstanding Natural Landscapes.Experience with engaging a range of stakeholders, including architects, surveyors, engineers, ecologists, urban designers and environmental scientists, as well as local board members and iwi representatives.

This position involved assessing proposed upgrades to Auckland Council's stormwater infrastructure in the North Shore. It also involved undertaking consultation with private landowners and iwi where it was considered appropriate. Finally, I was required to complete resource consent applications and assessments of environmental effects where necessary.

This was a full-time position outside of university semesters. During my experience in this role, I worked on a variety of jobs, from large commercial jobs to small residential jobs, and had to set up scaffolding, undertake roof repairs, spray protective coatings and carry out waterproofing tasks with new technologies. One of these technologies is ‘Blue Barrier’ which recently underwent successful waterproofing testing on a Christchurch house. This job forced me to branch beyond my learned capabilities, be innovative and work with my team in order to make deadlines.

This was a part-time position while attending Victoria University. My responsibilities included setting up function rooms, waiting on guests at cocktail functions and plated dinners, and serving drinks from the bar. Having previous experience in this position in 2008-2009, I was relied on as a leading team member and a trainee of new staff.

This job was undertaken as part of a six-month overseas experience in France. Here, I was required to serve customers in a relaxed and friendly environment, in both English and French. My responsibilities included bar service and the management of stock.
