• I performed research for the U-M Composite Structures Laboratory headed by Prof. Anthony Waas. I worked under the supervision of postdoctoral researcher Dr. Hoang Nguyen. My responsibilities included:
• Fabrication of carbon fiber composite specimens (manual layup, vacuum bagging, autoclave curing, specimen measurements and cutting, creating CAD drawings for waterjet cutting)
• Non-destructive tests with ultrasound inspection using a Dolphicam scanner
• Tensile testing of specimens until failure using a 35-kip Shore Western test frame
• Capturing images and performing digital image correlation (DIC) to examine the strain fields
• Mode I/II fracture toughness tests on a smaller 2-kN test frame
