Hello, my names Ethan Callaghan and I am currently in my first year of university studying Business Economics in Ulster University, Belfast. I am from the city of Derry where I currently live and formerly attended St Columbs College. As a first year business economics student I am excited about the endless opportunities that lie ahead of me and look forward to utilizing the skills that I will obtain from the course and put them into use in the economic world. Through a combination of theoretical learning and practical applications, I am eager to explore how economic theories can be harnessed to solve real-world challenges, drive innovation, and make informed, strategic decisions.In Derry I have a part time job at my family's business, Callaghan's Maxol Service Station. I have essentially grown up within the business working there from a very young age, which has provided me with many benefits both in the real world as well as the working world. In my time working I have grown and expanded my skillset. A few examples of this would be my excellent customer service skills, my leadership skills when being responsible for teaching new workers and my quick thinking initiative skills that I need when faced with customer issues and questions on the spot. This job has allowed me to get a grasp of much needed skills that are necessary when working and has built up my confidence. I am very excited to continue my academic career in economics and work toward completing the course and obtaining a degree in economics which I can then put to use to find a job in my desired career that I want to pursue.
