As a research assistant at the University of Texas at Arlington, I am working under Dr. Dasgupta, the Hamish Small Chair in Ion Analysis. I am working with a team of graduate students to conduct a literature review and publish a research paper in a peer-reviewed journal, on the topic of amperometric detection of amino acids, carbohydrates, and proteins with a copper electrode in ion-exchange chromatography, with a focus on the reusability, reproductivity, effectiveness, and reconditioning of the electrode. The use of the copper electrode under certain chromatographic, amperometric, and electrochemical conditions provides an extremely effective solution to the oxidization and poisoning of many other electrode types, as well as providing a cost-effective medium to be used in industry and research. The copper electrode, overall, is shown through our research, to be much superior in many aspects to its gold, platinum, and silver counterparts, which are extremely expensive, and many times not easily reusable.My responsibilities and skills include: • Individual, specified literature review and analysis of relevant articles• Presentation of weekly findings/analysis to the heads of the Chemistry Department• Construction of easily readable powerpoints with the integration of a good flow• Assistance in lab experiments(separation techniques such as HPLC, IC, GC, and Reverse-Phase HPLC as well as detection methods and the electrical engineering associated with them)• Collaboration with a team, both virtually and in-person, to get research and experiments done• Writing reports and experimental analyses over results• Editing and finalizing presentations, reports, and articles• Data collection and organization• Academic writing, reading, and reviewing

As an independent researcher, I am studying nanochemistry in an effort to improve carbon nanotube technology, as well as better understand the dynamic principles associated with nano science.
